Rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again sat down with Billboard as part of the “You Should Know” video series to share some facts about himself, including when he first started making music, what he would ask for if a genie granted him a wish and which song of his people should listen to first.
The 18-year-old musician, who grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, said that he wanted to be a rapper since he was young. “That was my dream job,” he shares, “and it came true.” He explains that he started making music at the age of 7 and that his mother used to rap, so she inspired him to follow in her footsteps.
He states that if he could travel to anywhere in the world, it would be Fiji, and that if a genie granted him a wish, he would ask for wealth. “I got a lot of money,” he says, “but when you wealthy, that mean that your children is ballin’, your grandchildren is ballin’. So it’s a different thing to me.”
The “No Smoke” rapper also reveals that he wants to learn how to sing, adding that while he’s “got the rapping down…I feel like if I knew how to sing, you couldn’t stop me, for real.”
As for which song of his people unfamiliar with his music should listen to first, he suggests “Gravity,” explaining, “I tell a lot about my life. You can get to know me through my music. You probably can overcome what you’re going through from listening to my music.”
