An agreement has been reached to “favorably” resolve the assault charge against Young Buck, who is accused of stabbing a man during last year’s Vibe Awards, the rapper’s attorney said.
The Nashville-based artist, whose given name is David Darnell Brown, allegedly stabbed attendee Jimmy James Johnson after Johnson punched producer Dr. Dre, starting a brawl during last year’s taping of the show.
“I can’t give any details, but we do have a deal with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office and will address everything in court next week,” defense attorney Scott E. Leemon said yesterday (Dec. 5).
“We can’t confirm either way, that it’s going to be favorable or not,” district attorney spokesperson Jane Robison said.
Brown, who is free on bail, has pleaded not guilty. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday (Dec. 12).
Johnson was sentenced to a year in jail last September after he pleaded guilty to punching rap mogul Dre.
In August, the rapper pleaded not guilty to felony gun possession charges after he and fellow G-Unit member Lloyd Banks were arrested in a van after performing at New York’s Madison Square Garden on the “Anger Management 3” tour.
“I am cautiously optimistic those charges will be dismissed before his next court date in New York,” Leemon said.
Brown is due in court in New York on Jan. 26.
