Yoko Ono has created a new collaboration with Opening Ceremony, inspired by her late husband, John Lennon.
The 79-year-old designer and wife to the deceased Beatle debuted her new menswear line for Opening Ceremony this week, with designs that focused on male genitalia. The collection was based on a series of drawings titled “Fashions for Men” that Ono sketched as a gift for Lennon for their 1969 wedding, reports WWD.
“I was inspired to create ‘Fashions for Men’ amazed at how my man was looking so great,” Ono told the fashion site. “I felt it was a pity if we could not make clothes emphasizing his very sexy bod. So, I made this whole series with love for his hot bod and gave it to him as a wedding present. You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more.”
Noteworthy pieces include pants with a handprint on the crotch, a black jockstrap, and a pink mesh top with cutouts around the nipples.
If these salacious fashion items don’t seem strange enough, some of Ono’s most bizarre items reportedly didn’t even make it into the collection. Items that were deemed too outlandish for production include, according to WWD, “underwear fashioned from a rigid mask” and an outfit “comprised of just pants attached to a long lion’s tail in the rear.”
Yoko Ono’s “Fashions For Men 1969-2012” collection ranges from $75 to $750 and will debut at Opening Ceremony stores on Nov. 30. The clothes are already available online.
