Dancehall rhythms are life, but in 2018, it’s time to switch it up. Yellow Claw found a real laid-back way to put that syncopation in the background of its latest single “Bittersweet.” It’s just enough to get your hips shaking as electric guitar and Sofia Reyes take front and center.
Dance fans may recognize Reyes’ soft vocals from “How to Love,” her 2016 collaboration with Cash Cash. “Bittersweet” is a summer-ready anthem with a naughty message about that bedroom business. Reyes’ lyrical metaphors are designed to get you feeling some type of way. Its tropical vibe seems in line with the duo’s comments that its forthcoming album is a “true globalization.”
The single follows “Summertime,” a collaboration with fellow Dutchman San Holo that saw Yellow Claw singing its own vocals for the first time. If you’re ready for this temptation, give “Bittersweet” a ride below. It’s out now on Yellow Claw’s own label Barong Family.
