Xzibit has spent six years since “Full Circle” (2006) away from the recording booth, until now. Yesterday (Tues., Oct. 9) the West Coast rapper released his most personal album to date, “Napalm.”
On the first episode of Billboard’s original series, Close Up, in which we offer an intimate artist portrait through unparalleled access into their world, we follow Xzibit as he prepares to release “Napalm.” In Close Up, in association with Skee.TV & Modern Artists, X shares the affliction he’s overcome to get to where he’s at today in the series
“I haven’t put out a record for six years. I had a real personal tragedy. Xavier Kingston was my second born son and he passed away prematurely. He lived for 13 days then he passed. Not only was it devastating to me but to my girl,” Xzibit bravely shares with Billboard. “It something that you just can’t just up and [say], ‘Oh well guess I better go tour.’ It ain’t like that. You know? So sometimes you have to disconnect yourself from that.”
