Although Melanie Amaro was the official winner of the first season of “X-Factor,” fellow contestants, Astro and Marcus Canty, walked away winners as well. Astro, born Brian Bradley, and Canty, have both signed deals with Epic Records, re-uniting with “X-Factor” judge, Epic Records Chairmman/CEO L.A. Reid.

“I’m excited to continue my journey with L.A. Reid and his staff at the new Epic Records,” Astro says, via press release. “The first time LA saw me he said I’d be a star, and I can’t wait to get to work and prove him right. 2011 was Dope, but 2012 is gonna be Epic!”
The 15 yr. old rapper, who started rhyming at the age of 10, awed the “X-Factor” judges with a performance of Wreckx-N-Effect‘s “Rump Shaker” and Kris Kross‘ “Jump.”

Astro and Marcus will join former contestants, Melanie Amaro and Chris Rene, at Epic. After the signing of Rene, an insider hinted on future signings, “The star power is there for a number of them — they’re relevant, contemporary recording artists with great chart and radio potential.”
