Today’s (June 14) Google Doodle is kicking off the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Google will be honoring the rich cultures and talent of the 32 countries participating by featuring different artists from each of the nations, who will each contribute doodles over next few weeks.
Today’s Doodle collage, created by Gluekit, gives a sneak peek into the diverse art by including elements from all 32 unique guest-artist doodles.
Over the next month, a total of 32 teams from around the globe will compete across 12 venues and 11 cities, in a total of 64 matches. While 20 of the teams are making repeat appearances, including defending champion Germany, first-timers Iceland and Panama will also be competing. The games will conclude with the final two teams playing at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia, on July 15.
Host country Russia will play Saudi Arabia in the first match of the World Cup at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday morning.
