Three days after the Mar. 29 release of his debut album, “Rolling Papers,” Wiz Khalifa will begin celebrating at college campuses across the country on the Green Carpet Tour, the rapper announced today (Feb. 16).
The 17-city trek, which marks the eighth installment of the eco-friendly Campus Consciousness Tour (produced by Pretty Polly Productions in conjunction with non-profit Reverb), will kick off Apr. 1 in Raleigh, N.C.
Khalifa’s tour announcement arrives less than a week after “Black and Yellow,” the MC’s debut single dedicated to the Pittsburgh Steelers, climbed to No. 1 on the Hot 100 after 18 weeks on the chart. “It was a complete surprise,” Khalifa told Billboard.com last week. “It being a song about Pittsburgh, I thought it would just be a great introduction. I never imagined this.”
Wiz Khalifa: Topping the Hot 100 ‘Feels Amazing’
Wiz Khalifa’s previous run of shows, the 50-city Waken Baken trek, led to sales of 90,000 tickets for 63 dates, according to The Agency Group, who booked the tour. The rapper has been confirmed to perform at Coachella and Bonnaroo this year and is expected to embark on an extensive summer tour in mid-June.
