Reggaetón power duo Wisin & Yandel have partnered with wireless company SunCom Wireless in Puerto Rico to launch their own cellphone, in alliance with Motorola.
The MOTOKRZR K1 Wisin vs. Yandel Limited Edition, on sale today, will contain Wisin & Yandel’s new album, “Los Extraterrestres,” (Machete Music). It will also include the video to the track “Donde Está el Amor” plus graphics of the duo.
The Wisin & Yandel device has an engraved logo of Wisin & Yandel’s initials. It includes a 2 mega píxel camera, media player, Bluetooth connectivity and an internal memory of 20 MB.
This is SunCom’s first branded cellphone. But it is Wisin & Yandel’s second major branding venture in less than a year. Last fall, the duo partnered with Zune to release a Wisin & Yandel-branded Zune device.
As part of the SunCom sponsorship, the company will offer a series of Wisin & Yandel promotions throughout the year, including exclusive content, such as ringtones, ringback tones and various contests that require text messaging to win prizes like Wisin & Yandel tickets and meet and greets. SunCom is also sponsoring Wisin & Yandel’s concerts at the Puerto Rico Coliseum March 7 and 8 and will offer a VIP ticket presale exclusively for SunCom costumers.
