Wippit, the U.K. digital download music and entertainment service, will unveil new agreements with five major digital music content providers tomorrow (Oct. 3), Billboard.Biz has learned.
The agreements will boost the range of international repertoire available to Wippit’s customers by an additional 2.4 million independent tracks.
The new partners are California-based IODA (Independent Online Distribution Alliance); Germany’s VUT (the Association of Independent Record Labels, Publishers and Producers); New York-based The Orchard; CD Baby in Oregon; and DRA (Digital Rights Agency), which is based in San Francisco.
Combined, these deals include recordings by Snoop Dogg, Ludacris; acts signed to German independent !K7 such as Herbert and Boozoo Bajou; and Canadian reggae/rock fusion act Bedouin Soundclash (Independant). Also on offer will be Brazil’s Bebel Gilberto, who is signed to Six Degrees for North America and to Crammed Discs for the rest of the world.
