Chief executive of Universal Music Group, Lucian Grainge has nominated Amy Winehouse’s Grammy Awards performance as the most important creative innovation of the past year.
He made the decision in his capacity as ambassador for The Creativity and Business International Network (c&binet), a new initiative developed to help shape the future of the creative business world internationally.
On the c&binet Web site, Grainge said: “I nominated her because she is an example of what I think is great British talent — both as a songwriter as well as performer? She is quite rare as far as how her creation and music went on to become incredible successful, artistically as well as commercially, all around the world.”
Winehouse is signed to Universal’s Island label.
Other c&binet ambassadors include Channel 4’s Andy Duncan and Last.fm’s Spencer Hyman.
