For those who don’t know, Mariah Carey has a reputation for being very particular about how things are done — and, apparently, at what time. At least, that’s what Will Ferrell jokingly confirmed during his Tuesday night appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers while talking about his new movie The House.
According to Ferrell, Carey was supposed to be in his upcoming film with Amy Poehler, but the legendary singer’s scenes didn’t make the final cut. Nevertheless, he was able to witness her star antics firsthand.
When Meyers jokingly asked if she showed up to set, Ferrell responded, “She eventually did show up,” implying the multi-Grammy Award winner was, in textbook diva fashion, late.
The Mariah story starts around the three-minute mark here:
In addition, Carey allegedly also arrived with demands. “There were suggestions that weren’t executed,” Ferrell said cryptically. “So, no. She was on our set, and, yeah, things happened.”
Although he didn’t elaborate on what exactly these “things” were, it seems they might have led to some trouble — or at least delays — on set. “Let’s just put it this way,” the comedian said. “At about midnight, I got a knock on my trailer and [they] said ‘You can just go home. We’re not going to get to you.'”
“But are we still filming?” Ferrell recalled asking. “‘We’re still filming,'” he was told.
Meyers and the audience laughed, with Meyers “welcoming” Ferrell to the world of Hollywood.
All in all, though, Carey’s supposed antics were “all for naught,” as Ferrell and Meyers joked, as The House watchers won’t catch a glimpse of the “Touch My Body” singer in the finished cut after all when the film hits theaters June 30.
