Fun. guy Jack Antonoff raised more than a few eyebrows last week when he announced the title of his new album with side project Bleachers on Craigslist. The release, “Strange Desire,” is due out July 15 via RCA Records.
“With this campaign I wanted to take a step back,” the 30-year-old guitarist told us on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet. “I’m from the Nineties… There’s something very special about waiting for things or discovering things, like, putting an ad out on Craigslist and not blasting it everywhere and having some people discover it.”
Antonoff said he liked the idea of people seeing the Craigslist post, scratching their heads, and asking “is it a rumor or is it real?” He continued, “So, I wanna get back to a little more of that, mixed with modern stuff, but people could use some patience.”

On the Craigslist ad, which is titled “Artist seeking “Strange Desire” (Woodcliff Lake),” Antonoff said the album title “speaks to my entire life over the past 14 years of writing and being on tour.”
Fans have already gotten a taste of Bleachers, beginning with lead single “I Wanna Get Better,” which received a music video directed by Antonoff’s girlfriend, “Girls” star Lena Dunham.
Antonoff’s Bleachers will perform at several festivals this summer, including Governor’s Ball, Firefly, Glastonbury and Summerfest. He developed the project — and the “oddly easy” process of picking for which bands his songs should live — while touring with Fun.
