We’re just days away from this year’s Grammys, but before the awards are handed out at Sunday’s (Feb. 10) ceremony, who do you think deserves to win song of the year?
Song of the year is specifically for songwriting. Unlike fellow Big Four category record of the year, song of the year is handed out to the songwriter(s) who wrote the lyrics and/or melody of the nominated track.
This year’s nominees include a wide array of songs across multiple genres, from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s smash “Shallow” from A Star is Born and Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Wakandan anthem “All The Stars” from Black Panther, to the biting social commentary of Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” and political wail of Brandi Carlile’s “The Joke.”
Other songs up for the award include Ella Mai’s R&B sleeper hit “Boo’d Up,” Zedd’s dance-pop collaboration with Maren Morris and Grey “The Middle,” Drake’s chart-topping “God’s Plan” and the vulnerable jam “In My Blood” from Shawn Mendes.
