The White Stripes are long gone, but their legacy will rise again next month. That’s when Jack White‘s Third Man Records will treat fans to a double LP featuring the duo’s complete Peel Sessions recordings.
The package, with one red LP and one white one, is a special treat for Record Store Day (April 16). Often bootlegged but never officially released, the set chronicles the pair’s two 2001 appearances on British presenter John Peel’s legendary BBC radio show.
Jack and former wife/drummer Meg White dropped by the Peel studios in July and November of that year, just after the release of what would become their breakthrough third album, White Blood Cells.
In addition to songs from Cells, the albums will feature tracks from the Stripes’ self-titled 1999 debut, 2000’s De Stijl as well as covers of the MC5’s “Looking at You,” Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Gene Vincent’s “Baby Blue.”
