Morgan Kibby is a surreal botanist in White Sea‘s new “Bloodline” video.
Former M83 member’s solo project gets beautifully bizarre in the clip, which Kibby directed, as she and another woman share some turbulent intimate moments. Stoic scenes are intercut with shots of a beautiful garden, which the musician tends to dutifully. It’s not all silver bells and cockle shells, though, as things take a dark turn.
“I took inspiration from fine art photography for this video,” Kibby tells Billboard. “I’ve always loved surreal realism and have been toying with the idea of what a modern Dutch still life would look like. ‘Bloodline’ is my interpretation and expression of these ideas.”

‘Bloodline’ is White Sea’s second release from her new interactive art project, Postcards from Nowhere, following “Arcadia” that was released in March. This year, Kibby has pledged to use this platform to release new music with accompanying video content (as well as postcards, demos, polaroids, correspondence and more), without regulating them to EP or LP collections.
