The board of international independent music association WIN has unanimously requested that Alison Wenham continue to head the organization in the newly created position of chairman.
Wenham has been president of WIN since its inception in 2006. During this time, she has worked with the organization to extend its membership to labels and trade bodies in 25 countries across the world and was a driving force behind the creation of independent rights association Merlin.
The meeting agreed on firmer constitutional proposals relating to the structure and funding of WIN. In line with these proposals, Wenham’s former title of president was temporarily abandoned for the title of chairman.
David Vodicka, chairman of the Australian Independent Records Labels Association (AIR); Mark Chung, chairman of German independents trade body VUT; Portia Sabin, representing the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM); and Duncan McKie, president and CEO of Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA) were also appointed vice chairmen.
