In early 2012, James Murphy — former LCD Soundsystem leader and Arcade Fire producer du jour — first intimated his interest in producing his own coffee. Late last year, it was reportedly finished. Now, it’s actually finished and available to drink with your mouth. Be still our palpitating hearts.
Mr. Murphy’s love of the bean has been thoroughly documented (in a documentary, no less) at this point (almost as much as his post-LCD career) that the actual release of his coffee comes as somewhat of a surprise. Feel free to mad lib your own joke about lack of focus here.
In a surprisingly lengthy blog post from Blue Bottle, the ultra-swank coffee company that Murphy collaborated with, it’s revealed that he is also opening his own cafe, which will share the name of his coffee: The House of Good.
“The idea is that it should have a real complexity on the palate, like a single-origin does, but not be difficult on the finish. It should be very friendly,” the musical polymath told Rolling Stone last December. We’ll happily assume it is.
With the release, Murphy joins the likes of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Prince. Nice crowd.
