Ween is eyeing a late summer or early fall release for its as-yet-untitled next studio album, which it is recording with producer Andrew Weiss at a former farmhouse in Pennsylvania.
“We started out with 50 or 60 demos and whittled it down to around 20 songs,” guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo writes on the band’s short run of dates beginning April 30 in Asheville, N.C.
The band is also mulling the release of an EP this summer “with completely different tunes from the album,” as well as a live CD/DVD with unreleased material from 1991-92. “It is really mega-brown and is the music equivalent of ‘a face only a mother could love,'” Melchiondo says of the latter project.
Ween has yet to announce a label affiliation for the upcoming studio release, the band’s first since 2003’s “Quebec” (Sanctuary).
