No clunky classes or headsets are needed to get the full 360° video experience in the web version of “Crown,” the immersive video dropped by rap duo Run the Jewels on Wednesday. The gritty black and white video uses YouTube’s virtual reality technology to let users drag the cursor around the screen and watch Killer Mike, El-P and the other characters in the clip from multiple angles.
The clip was originally released in March as part of the New York Times‘ VP app for iOS and Android and was also made available on Record Store Day via the VRTJ Viewer. The new version requires the Google Chrome browser to work and doesn’t require any other hardware. The VRTJ platform is slated to feature live performance video and other content created in the 360 format.
