And the winner is… Porter Robinson, who beat out the likes of Charli XCX, Sam Smith, FKA Twigs, J. Cole and Run the Jewels to take home the Woodie of the Year prize at this year’s mtvu Woodie Awards.
Robinson accepted to prize from Jack Antonoff and The Fat Jew. In his speech, he thanked all the likely folks including his fans, label and managers, as well as one of his electronic music colleagues, Skrillex.
“I just believe there’s a really, really beautiful future for electronic music,” he added.
The show took place Friday (March 20) in Austin during SXSW. Other winners included Childish Gambino, Taylor Swift (for her cover of Vance Joy’s “Riptide”), and Hoodie Allen featuring Ed Sheeran, ET reports.
But the party didn’t end after the show wrapped. To celebrate the win, Robinson hit up the Mad Decent party where he played a set. You know, “just for fun.”
