With music from upcoming album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” and a plot revolving around a beautiful bird-girl, Kanye West‘s 34-minute film project “Runaway” premiered on the MTV networks and online on Saturday night.
Filmed in Prague last summer, the video marks the rapper’s directorial debut and includes visuals that “represent everything I wanted to do since I was five years old,” West said at the film’s New York screening last Thursday.
“Runaway” centers on a gorgeous phoenix, played by model Selita Ebanks, who crash-lands on Earth and is rescued by West. The rapper plays music for the creature and takes her on as his girlfriend, but discrimination forces her to return to the sky. The centerpiece of the film is an extended dinner party sequence in which West performs new single “Runaway” as a company of ballerinas elegantly move to his rhythms.
