James Corden got an education in hockey, country music and Wham when Carrie Underwood sat in the passenger seat for a “Carpool Karaoke” session.
It proved to be an incident free drive for Underwood as the pair cruised L.A. and got to know each other for the popular segment on Corden’s Late Late Show.

The British host made small talk about hockey, and asked of Underwood’s NHL-pro husband Mike Fisher. “I don’t watch it very often,” Corden said. “But what I’ve seen is essentially skating around on very sharp blades, and then having a fight.” “Yup,” she responded. When asked if she worried for her partner’s safety when he got into a brawl on the ice, Corden was surprised by the response. “Did you see his latest fight?” she asked. “He knocked a guy’s tooth out. Yeah, it was pretty hot.”
The pair sang Underwood’s hits “Smoke Break”, “Jesus Take the Wheel,” and “Before He Cheats.” Though
Corden admitted to the country star he knew little about the genre his guest had made a successful career from. And he was clueless about the standard country attire. “The boots are our roots,” she explained. Corden then pulled into a boutique cowboy outfitter to test that theory.

The funnyman also tested Underwood’s famed skills at holding a note, a competition which ended in a Dumb and Dumber moment. Underwood also professed to knowing every lyric to every Wham song. And to prove it, the pair belted out a lively version of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”.
