Hiatus Kaiyote has wrapped their U.S. tour by performing a mini-set for Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Australian “future-soul” group played “By Fire” on air and a bonus track “Breathing Underwater,” both of which are lifted from the sophomore album Choose Your Weapon (Flying Buddha/Sony Music Masterworks), which debuted at No. 1 on the Heatseekers chart on its release in May. The act also performed the Grammy-nominated song “Nakamarra” for their Kimmel debut.

The Melbourne four-piece — Nai Palm (vocals/guitar), Paul Bender (bass), Perrin Moss (drums/percussion) and Simon Mavin (keyboards) — will tour the U.K. and Europe in the coming months, and they’re on the bill for Glastonbury Festival later in June. Australian tour dates are penciled in for August.
Acclaimed producer and songwriter Salaam Remi selected Hiatus Kaiyote as the first signing for his label Flying Buddha, an imprint of Sony Music Masterworks, which released the outfit’s first album Tawk Tomahawk in July 2013. “Nakamarra” was nominated for a best R&B performance Grammy and the act has felt the love from the likes of Questlove, Erykah Badu, Pharrell Williams and Prince.
