Making a quick stop-off during her current Storyteller tour, Underwood surprised fans and unsuspecting shoppers when she donned a brown wig and glasses and went undercover as a sales clerk at a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Nashville, where she tended to customers who were browsing the activewear line she designs, CALIA.
“Are you a fan of Carrie Underwood? Do you know any of her songs?” she innocently asks one woman. “They play her music all day here,” Underwood continues with a huge sigh. When another customer insists that she recognizes this overly friendly salesclerk the singer confides in her that “I used to be in the music business and I gave it all up to come work at Dick’s Sporting Goods.” The ruse doesn’t last for long after that.
