Warner Home Video will introduce the portable Mini-DVD player this holiday season.
The player, manufactured by CyberHome, comes with built-in speakers, headphones, a rechargeable battery, an AC adapter and cradle charger for a suggested retail price of less than $120. The handheld device is slightly larger than a portable videogame player.
Mini-DVD will be available in select markets starting in December, and will roll out nationally in March.
The CyberHome player reads special mini-DVD discs, which are also compatible with standard DVD players. About 30 titles will initially be available; more than 50 will be in stores next spring. Initial releases include “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” “Kangaroo Jack: G’Day U.S.A.!” and “Teen Titans Vol. 1: Divide and Conquer.”
Consumers will receive three mini-DVDs with the purchase of the player, and are eligible to receive an additional two mini-DVDs free by mail. The mini-DVDs will range in price from $9.98 to $24.98.
