Warner Music Central Europe in Hamburg will commence with the distribution for the dance label Ministry of Sound in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with immediate effect.
The contract includes future releases and back catalog, which will be transferred to Warner Music distribution in a phased approach over the next six months. Edel previously distributed for the dance label.
The deal covers albums from artists including Calvin Harris, Robyn, Bob Sinclar, Oceana and Crookers, as well as Ministry of Sound’s range of popular compilations, including “Club Files,” “The Annual” and “Clubber’s Guide To Ibiza,” which are regular fixtures on the European Dance and House charts.
In addition, Ministry of Sound’s German branch, founded by managing director Konrad von Löhneysen, has local deals on affiliated labels with established stars including Moby, Carla Bruni, Prefab Sprout, Madness and Shaggy. Other local compilations include the sampler for “Germany’s Next Top Model” TV series and the “Loveparade” CD releases.
“I have always admired Warner Music’s true partnership approach to its artists,” said Konrad von Löhneysen, managing director, Ministry of Sound in Berlin, in a statement. “We have also come to know Warner Music as a good partner in the distribution service sector.”
Bernd Dopp, chairman & CEO Warner Music Central and Eastern Europe, added: “One of the most successful dance and house labels, Ministry of Sound has a prestigious artist roster, which will compliment our own repertoire strongly. I am looking forward to working with Konrad von Löhneysen, whom I have known for years as a committed and well-connected executive.”
