Walmart.com has lowered the price of its three-DVD online rental plan to $17.36 per month.
The move comes in response to competitor Netflix’s new $17.99 monthly price — also covering the rental of three movies at a time — which went into effect yesterday (Nov. 1). Netflix announced the new price last month on the heels of speculation that Amazon.com would be launching an online DVD rental service.
Blockbuster announced in October that it had dropped its three-DVD online rental plan to $17.49 per month.
Walmart.com, Netflix and Blockbuster each offer other plans, with varying prices, for rentals of two titles per month or four titles or more per month.
