At the Video Software Dealers Association’s Home Entertainment conference’s opening session yesterday (July 26), the organization’s president Bo Andersen revealed a new anti-piracy advertisement that will soon be distributed to movie theaters and retailers. He noted that fighting piracy is the most important issue that video retailers need to be concerned about.
VSDA will also be working with the National Assoc. of Video Distributors. Through this partnership, VSDA will run anti-piracy ads in magazines that are handed out in video retail stores.
Additionally at the opening session, Andersen said that the software and hardware industries need to come together and introduce one high definition DVD format to the marketplace. Currently, the HD DVD format is expected to debut this fall and the Blu-ray format is coming in the first quarter of 2006.
VSDA also reported some of its 2004 financial results. The organization ended fiscal 2004 with profits of $430,000.
