Everyone from rapper 50 Cent to goth rocker Marilyn Manson to world-renowned DJ Paul Oakenfold will be on hand for New Orleans’ fifth-annual Voodoo Music festival. More than 40 acts have been confirmed for the now three-day event, scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in New Orleans’ City Park. The bill is expected to grow to 80 artists, who will perform on three stages.
Others confirmed include modern rock heavyweights Staind, Queens Of The Stone Age, the Donnas and A Perfect Circle; rap acts Cypress Hill, the Roots, Mos Def and Ludacris; and jam bands String Cheese Incident, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Galactic and Gov’t Mule.
“Last year’s event deemed us as a Halloween tradition [but] this year’s event will solidify us as a three-day world class music experience not to miss,” promoter Steve Rehage of Rehage Entertainment says in a statement. “Our weekend lineup showcases some of the best talent in today’s industry and allows us to pepper the weekend with some of music’s rising stars.”
The Voodoo Music festival joined the Big Easy festival scene in 1999 with an eye on presenting an eclectic lineup to please a wide array of concertgoers. The city also hosts the sprawling two-week Jazz & Heritage Festival each spring and the R&B/hip-hop themed Essence Music Festival each summer. New Orleans is also home to the smaller Hurricane and French Quarter festivals.
Three-day Voodoo passes will run $80 and go on sale Friday (Aug. 22) via the festival’s official Web site and 800-594-8499.
