There’s about to be a battle on The Voice for those big red chairs.
Former coaches CeeLo Green, Gwen Stefani and Usher will return to the NBC singing competition on April 27 as advisers, the network announced.
The trio will offer their expertise to the top eight singers left in the running under current coaches Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton.
How CeeLo Green’s Career Can Be Saved
The episode marks an important homecoming for one of the show’s original stars, Green. After logging four seasons as a coach, he announced his exit in February 2014 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Last fall, Green pleaded no contest to slipping ecstasy into a woman’s drink and then posted a series of tweets about the definitions of rape and consensual sex that left his career in question. He hasn’t tweeted since.
A two-time coach and one-time victor, Usher last appeared on the show in season six. Stefani, along with Williams, made her debut as a coach last season, when Aguilera mentored her team.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
