Tove Lo was floating on a nice high in 2014 when her debut hit “Habits (Stay High)” hit the top of the Pop Songs chart. After delivering a double whammy that year with her debut album Queen of the Clouds and her Truth Serum EP, the Swedish pop darling is now prepping her sophomore effort called Lady Wood.
Tove Lo broke down the risqué album title to Billboard while walking the white carpet at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards (Aug. 28). “It kind of stands for a female hard-on,” said Lo, while flexing her muscles. “Everything that I’ve been through the past two years has been very intense since this whole artist thing started.”
She teased that a short film would be arriving as well.
The singer-songwriter, who recently released the fiery visual for “Cool Girl,” added that the LP name comes from mixed feelings about stardom. “Doing things that scare you and excite you at the same time,” she said. “So all of this — going on stage, being at places like [the VMAs], writing very personal songs and letting people hear them. It took some guts for me and also made me really excited. It terrifies you and turns you on at the same time.”
