
Viola Beach, the up-and-coming British band killed in a car accident on the weekend, is on track to enter Britain’s Top 40 singles chart for the first time.
The four-piece arrive at No. 39 on the Official Chart Update with their debut single “Swings & Waterslides,” which is predicted to continue rising up the chart as social media campaigns introduce the band to a wider audience.

The Warrington group, comprised of Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin, died along with their manager Craig Tarry when a car they were traveling in drove through a barrier and plunged into a canal near Stockholm on Sunday.
The group had just played Sweden’s Where Is The Music? festival and were scheduled to open for headline artists Blossoms at a concert in Guildford, outside London, on Saturday (the show was subsequently canceled). The newcomers were also scheduled to perform at SXSW in March.
Proceeds from sales of “Swings & Waterslides” will go to the families of the band and its manager, the group’s record label Communion Music has announced. The new Official U.K. Singles Chart will be published late Friday local time.
