Journey’s worldwide touring success over the past 38 years earned them the Billboard Touring Conference’s Legend of the Live Award, and co-founding guitarist Neal Schon was on hand to accept the award alongside longtime bassist Ross Valory and speak about the band’s past, present and future.
Schon described it as “a struggle” to tour without original lead singer Steve Perry, but lauded the past year as one of Journey’s best on the road in twenty years. He also hinted that the band would be heading out again next year for at least a few U.S. dates, though plans are still not very advanced.
