
Ruben Den Boer and Victor Pool, who record as Vicetone, play with texture on their latest track. Initially the duo surrounds Cozi Zuehlsdorff’s voice with pleasing sounds – warm, gurgling synths – but the hook sweeps in with gnarled metallic force, adding a shade of menace to the singer’s warning: “Before you go and walk away, you better know where you’re going.”

Once the duo cut the track, they turned to a longtime partner to release it. “When we finished ‘Nevada,’ we knew that Monstercat was the first label we wanted to send it to,” Vicetone explains in an email. “We have always had a great relationship with the Monstercat team, dating all the way back to 2012 with the release of ‘Harmony,’ which was the first Vicetone single to ever be signed to a label.”
