VH1 will kick off its second annual Hip Hop Honors event through a partnership with Starbucks, Billboard.biz has learned. From Aug. 26 – Sept. 26, fans can enter to win a trip for two to the New York ceremony at any of the 83 Magic Johnson Starbucks locations. Beginning Monday (Aug. 29), an ad campaign featuring this year’s honorees will be unveiled in New York’s subway platforms and around the city.
Airing Sept. 26, this year’s awards will honor Big Daddy Kane, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Ice-T, LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa and Notorious B.I.G. Russell Simmons and his brother Reverend Run are set to host and the evening will feature performances by Kanye West, Missy Elliot, Common, Nelly, Eve, Jazzy Jeff, and Snoop Dogg.
