VH1 Classic will go behind the scenes of Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp with a two-hour special airing April 2. The event finds such rock veterans as the Who’s Roger Daltrey, the E Street Band’s Nils Lofgren, former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts and Poison’s Bret Michaels coaching campers and preparing them for a battle of the bands at the Los Angeles House of Blues.
The special also includes videos from bands whose members participated in the camp, such as Yes’ “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” the Who’s “Pinball Wizard,” Men at Work’s “Down Under” and the Cars’ “Hello Again.”
Meanwhile, Cars guitarist Elliot Easton hinted to VH1 Classic host Lynn Hoffman that a reunion may be in the cards. After Hoffman introduced him as the band’s “former guitarist,” Easton corrected her by adding, “And future as well.” The Cars have not been heard from since 1987; bassist Benjamin Orr died of cancer in 2000.
