Ames, Iowa-based facility management and consulting services firm VenuWorks (formerly Compass Facility Management) has named Steve Hyman executive director of the Alerus Center in Grand Fork, N.D. He replaces Charlie Jeske.
Hyman’s new position takes effect beginning Feb. 18. He will report directly to VenuWorks VP of venue services Tammy Koolbeck.
In his new role, Hyman will be responsible for the development and oversight of financial operations of the 21,000-capacity facility. He will also serve as VenuWorks’ liaison between the Alerus Center commission and the city of Grand Forks, which owns the venue.
Most recently, Hyman served as president of Streamwood, Ill.-based consulting firm CCO Arenas. He has also served in past executive director roles at Moline, Ill.’s iWireless Center (formerly the Mark of the Quad Cities), and Hoffman Estates, Ill.’s Sears Centre. In those capacities, Hyman was responsible for developing budgets, fund-raising and negotiating contracts.
Alerus Center, which opened in February 2001, recently hosted a concert by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and serves as the home for University of North Dakota’s football games. The facility also provides a 4,600 reduced-capacity setup.
