Australian singer-songwriter Vassy has seen her profile grow thanks to the recent David Guetta/Showtek collaboration “Bad” and her own single “We Are Young.” The latter isn’t a fun. cover, but Vassy has decided to put a spin on another classic pop-rock sing-along: the New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give.”

Vassy tells Billboard that the New Radical’s hit single, from their lone studio album Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too, is a “classic,” and that she couldn’t resist taking on the 1998 single. “I love the energy in this song!” she says. “I’m a real British rock n roll punky kind of girl.”

Vassy has collaborated with artists like Pitbull and Afrojack, but “Bad” resonated within Guetta’s sprawling discography, and will be featured on the deluxe edition of his upcoming full-length Listen. Meanwhile, Vassy will release her own album, We Are Young, on Jan. 13, 2015.
