R&B superstars Usher and Nelly, along with rock trio Green Day, are the first performers confirmed for the 2004 Billboard Music Awards.
The Dec. 8 awards show will be telecast live on Fox at 8 p.m. ET (tape-delayed PT) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The awards recognize the year’s leading artists and songs as determined by Billboard’s year-end charts. As previously announced, Stevie Wonder will be honored at the show with this year’s Century Award, Billboard’s highest accolade for artistic achievement.
Nick Lachey, Alicia Keys, Fantasia, Ashlee Simpson, Motley Crue, Duran Duran and Chingy are scheduled to make special appearances during the two-hour celebration. The show’s host, additional performers and presenters and the award finalists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bob Bain returns for his ninth year as executive producer of the awards show. Greg Sills will serve as supervising producer. Paul Flattery and Michael Levitt are producers. Bruce Gowers is the show’s director, and Wylleen May is the executive in charge of production.
