Lake Placid, N.Y., will be the site of the City of Hope’s inaugural Songs at the Lake music festival, set for July 31-Aug. 1. A portion of ticket sales will benefit the L.A. organization’s cancer research, treatment and education programs.
Artists for the first day of the event — to be held at the main festival stage in the Lake Placid Olympic speed-skating oval — include the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Buckwheat Zydeco, Mark Selby, Patty Larkin, Bill Miller, Sonny Landreth, Rosanne Cash and Ryan Shupe & the Rubber Band. The lineup for Aug. 1 includes Los Lobos, Little Feat, Donna The Buffalo, Tony Joe White, Steve Forbert, Tom Rush and Guy Clark.
In addition, there will be a limited-admission July 31 singer/songwriter concert at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. This will include intimate performances by headliner Guy Clark along with Rebecca Lynn Howard, Mark Selby, Tia Sillers and Ray Stephenson.
WestFest producer Bob Burwell of Dreamcatcher Entertainment is organizing the event, in conjunction with City of Hope.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow (April 1) through tickets.com. Advance general-admission tickets are $39 per day and $70 for both days. After June 15, the prices go up to $45 and $79. A special Festival Club package — with admission to both days, the singer/songwriter concert and more — is $149.00.
