Amid Queens Of The Stone Age’s upcoming stints Desert Sessions” series, also via Ipecac. The album sports guest appearances by Polly Jean Harvey, Dean Ween, drummer Josh Freese, Eleven principals Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider, A Perfect Circle’s Twiggy Ramirez, and QOTSA drummer Joey Castillo, among others.
QOTSA guitarist Josh Homme is also working on a project dubbed the Eagles Of Death Metal, in tandem with Jesse Hughes. QOTSA’s official Web site describes the project as “a flurry of Satanic Bluegrass Stripper music that will knock your hams off.”
As for QOTSA, the group’s new single, “Go With the Flow,” debuted this week at No. 32 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart. Its predecessor, “No One Knows,” is No. 8 in its 27th week on the same chart. The Interscope album from which they are drawn, “Songs for the Deaf,” is No. 106 in its 31st week on The Billboard 200 and has sold 646,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Ipecac is planning to release “Songs for the Deaf” on double vinyl in July, bolstered by a previously unreleased cover of Roky Erickson’s “Bloody Hammer.”
