Ron Kamnuanthip has been named GM of Universal Music Thailand, effective Sept. 5, according to Universal Music Group International (ASEAN) senior VP Sandy Monteiro.
Based in Bangkok and reporting to Kuala Lumpur-based Monteiro, Kamnuanthip will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s daily operations.
Kamnuanthip takes over from Phil Murphy, who has been interim head of Universal Music Thailand for the past 10 months. Murphy will work with Kamnuanthip and Monteiro on the transition, before resuming his role as consultant to London-based UMGI Asia Pacific president Max Hole.
Kamnuanthip was previously Thai managing director of international marketing agency PPW.
“Ron has excellent brand development experience and entrepreneurial flair, which will serve us well in today’s ever-changing markets,” said Monteiro in a statement. “Together with his love of music, I believe that he will take Universal Music Thailand forward into a new era.”
