Universal Music Latin Entertainment has announced key senior management appointments to its Latin American operation following its integration with EMI.
Chief among them is the appointment of Alfredo Delgadillo as general manager, Universal Music Mexico, overseeing all label operations for the label in that country. He replaces former GM Mexico José Puig, who is leaving for personal reasons after 14 years with Universal.
Delgadillo will be based out of Mexico City reporting to Victor Gonzalez, president of UMLE, which includes Mexico, Central America and U.S. Latin.
“As a result of the integration of Universal-EMI in Mexico, we are pleased to have two young but seasoned executives to provide leadership to our excellent team,” said González.
Delgadillo comes to Universal after14 years in EMI Mexico, where he was most recently commercial & music services director for the company. He replaces former Universal Music Mexico GM Jose Puig who’s left the company for personal reasons.
Also coming into Universal from the EMI front is Fernando Grediaga, appointed director of Marketing Universal Music Mexico, in charge of heading the company’s marketing team for all its artists. Grediaga was most recently director of marketing Latino & Anglo at EMI Music Mexico, where he began working in 2006. He will also remain in Mexico City, reporting to Delgadillo.
The two appointments follow the departure of Robbie Lear, MD of EMI Music Mexico.

Latin America Appointments
In addition to changes in Mexico, López also announced new appointments for Universal’s operation in Latin America.
Chief among them is Manuel Peña’s appointment as managing director of a new business unit comprising the Andean Region (Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Perú), Central America and the Caribbean. He will be based in Bogotá, Colombia and will continue to report to López.
Peña has been with Universal since 1997 in posts that include MD Southern Cone and MD Central America. He was most recently EVP Operations, Strategic Marketing & Classics for Universal Music Latin America & Universal Music Latin Entertainment.
In addition, Ernesto Vicente has been named SVP Strategic Marketing, Universal Music Latin America. He will be based in Buenos Aires reporting to López. Vicente comes to Universal from the EMI side, where he was most recently MD for Argentina, Chile & Uruguay. He also served as an EMI Music Regional Committee Board Member where he was in charge of the Strategic Marketing and Catalog initiatives for Latin America.
Carina Stagno, formerly marketing manager strategic, classics & Jazz and Synchronizations for Universal Music Argentina has been promoted to
VP, Classics & Jazz, Universal Music Latin America. She will be based in Buenos Aires, Argentina reporting to Vicente. Finally, Adel Hattem, EMI’s VP of marketing in Latin America, will now head marketing for the Parlophone Label Group in Latin America.
Enrique Velez, MD of EMI Music Andean Region has left the company.
