V2 has set a Dec. 5 release date for the soundtrack to the Anthony Minghella film “Breaking & Entering,” which was assembled by U.K. electronic duo and composer Gabriel Yared (“Cold Mountain,” “The English Patient”). The movie, which stars Jude Law and Juliette Binoche, opens Dec. 8 in limited U.S. release.
“Anthony has been a wonderful man to work with: very open-minded and generous of spirit,” group member Karl Hyde previously told Billboard.com about the collaboration. “He encouraged [Underworld’s] Rick [Smith] and me to do whatever we wanted to do.”
The music was hashed out at London’s Abbey Road Studios, “using electronics and traditional acoustic instruments from all over the world. It has opened all of our heads,” Hyde said. Underworld scored big with its prior soundtrack contribution, “Born Slippy (Nuxx),” which appeared in the 1995 film “Trainspotting.”
In related news, Underworld will head to South America for a three-show tour later this month, beginning Nov. 11 at the Creamfields festival in Buenos Aires. The duo will also play Nov. 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Nov. 18 in Rio de Janiero.
