Uncle Kracker will begin touring in earnest later this week. The retro-leaning artist played one show in Las Vegas over the weekend, but will kick the tour into gear with a show Thursday (July 17) in Milwaukee.
Kracker has dates scheduled into early November, hitting a number of festivals and state and county fairs along the way, pairing the versatile artist with a wide range of acts. At an Aug. 29 show at Rockford, Ill.’s On The Waterfront festival, he’ll share the stage with country singer songwriter Jennifer Hanson and reggae act Natty Nation; a Sept. 6 show at Richmond, Va.’s International Speedway will see him perform with hard rock group Trapt.
Kracker is riding a wave of success thanks to his cover of “Drift Away,” which features the song’s original singer, Dobie Gray. The track has been No. 1 for seven weeks on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary airplay chart and is No. 13 on the Hot 100.
The song is featured on the artist’s Lava/Atlantic album “No Stranger to Shame.” The set has been on The Billboard 200 for 25 weeks, where it peaked at No. 43. It has sold 359,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
