These days it’s nearly impossible not to find yourself struck down by Bieber Fever–and YouTube comedian and musician, Dave Days, has found himself back in the Uncharted top 10 after releasing a new music video to go along with his cover of Chris Brown’s Bieber-assisted “Next To You.” The clip shows Dave Days following a trail of post-it notes left by co-up-and-comer Megan Nicole, who also helps Dave out on vocals. The video has amassed over 100,000 views this week (over 765,000 in total), bumping Dave Days from No. 12 to No. 9.
And taking Dave Days’ spot at No. 12 is producing duo Mustard Gas, who made this week’s biggest leap after clocking in it at No. 43 just seven days ago. The huge change was thanks to the debut of a new video for their single, “ZHM.” Only thing is, you can’t see that video anymore, thanks to YouTube’s policy on nudity and sexual content. But what Mustard Gas lacked in visuals, they made up in audio, racking up over 50,000 plays on Soundcloud.
Indie darling Washed Out also found himself climbing up the ranks of the Uncharted following the July 12 release of his highly anticipated debut, “Within And Without.” Washed Out made some chill waves throughout the blogosphere–especially after landing a coveted Best New Music stamp from Pitchfork-seeing both his Last.fm and Myspace numbers jump, putting him at No. 10 on the charts. With a sound that distinctly rings with the haze of summer, don’t be surprised if you Washed Out sticks around for a little while longer.
“We could make magic / And then I could pull a David Blaine,” spits LA rapper T. Mills in his new track “Fuck EM (With My Vans On)”, who pulled a Houdini–er, perhaps David Blaine, rather–of his own, leaping 16 spots to land at No. 15 this week. “Fuck EM” notched over 15,000 plays on T. Mills’ Soundcloud after dropping on July 12, just going to show you people really dig effortless flows with a the right amount of bite, boom-bap beats, and sex with their favorite shoes on.
And last but not least, German dancehall band, Seeed, makes their Uncharted debut this week at No. 39. Back on July 8, the group released their latest single, “Molotov,” as a free download, while on YouTube the song (it’s not really a video; just a title card with the band and song name) is closing in on 330,000 views. The punchy, guitar-driven “Molotov” will appear on Seeed’s upcoming album slated for release later this year.
In other Uncharted news, it’s the usual suspects towards the top. Singer-songwriter/producer Tyler Ward returns to the Top 5, landing at No. 3, replacing Your Favorite Enemies, who drop to No. 5. Colette Carr held tight at No. 4, while DJ Bl3nd and Traphik swapped places at the very top, with Bl3nd finding himself top dog this week.
