Universal Music Video & Distribution has launched an official Web site for its indie arm Fontana. UMVD has yet to formally announce the division, but the site includes an expanded staff roster.
David Zierler has been named director of business development, Dietric Williams has been appointed to the sales staff and Bright Riley joins the label management team. Riley was formerly the CEO of L.A.-based indie rap label Vybe Squad, and Williams, a sales and marketing assistant at UMVD, is being shifted to Fontana. All are based in Los Angeles and report to GM Steve Pritchitt and VP of sales Ken Gullic.
Fontana has yet to announce any label signings, but it’s expected that most releases from L.A.-based Vagrant Records will go through the indie, with some of the label’s major artists getting UMVD distribution. Vagrant’s deal with TVT expires next month.
