Universal Music Publishing Group will announce today (Dec. 3) that it has promoted David Renzer from worldwide president to chairman/CEO.
Renzer, who joined Universal in 1996 (when it was MCA Music Publishing), reports to Zach Horowitz, Universal Music Group president/COO.
During his time at UMPG, Renzer spearheaded the integration of PolyGram Music Publishing and Rondor Music into the company, acquired more than 70 major catalogs (including Def Jam, Interscope, All Nations Music, Anxious Music, John Phillips, Ronnie Van Zant and Momentum Music) and launched Universal Christian Music Publishing and Universal Music Publishing Group Latin America.
For 2005, Renzer is looking at “more catalog acquisitions on a global basis.” He particularly hopes to expand the company’s reach in emerging markets like China, India and Latin America.
