Universal Music Publishing Group has formed a new division, Universal Music Production Library, offering production music, music supervision and recording studio services.
Emmy Award-winning composer and music supervisor Jonathan Firstenberg will lead the initiative as creative director. He will oversee the acquisition of content for the library and handle general business development, reporting to Scott James, senior VP of film/TV and new technologies.
The division will serve production and broadcasting entities, production companies, post-production houses, music supervisors, editors, advertising agencies, ringtone and call-back applications, videogames, studio music departments and others.
“The Universal Music Production Library and related services that we are launching will offer exciting opportunities to both our writer/artists, as well as service the growing music needs of various production outlets with music they wouldn’t find in any other production music library,” says UMPG chairman/CEO David Renzer.
The library will include production music by many of UMPG’s composers such as Gary Haase (50 Cent, George Benson, Snoop Dogg) and Preston Glass (Kenny G, Stanley Jordan), as well as top names in the film/TV and trailer world.
UMPL will also offer immediate access to its composers, producers, mix and master engineers with Composer’s Custom Lab.
A new UMPL Web site has been launched at UMPLmusic.com with integrated links to SYNCHExpress.com, UMPG’s music licensing destination.
